A Philosophy of Clear Communication
I believe the simple lessons I have learned have wide applicability, especially in writing for the Web. A simple, inviting, communicative style is vital for any marketing or explanatory writing. But even the best style is empty without a clear understanding of what is to be communicated. When I work with a client my first concern is to understand their strategy and goals for the writing, whether a web page, a brochure, a letter or a marketing proposal.  I can help a client to think through issues such as:
  • Who the audience is and what they already know and don't know
  • What the goals are for this communication
  • What is the primary information and impression the writing must convey.
This process ensures that the writing fits the business goals of the client. For some clients it may even help them clarify those goals. Adequate time spent up front on clarification of strategy saves major time and money later.
Of course this is just as important for the graphics as for the writing, and I work closely with the graphics team.

Availability
At present I have some availability to take on new work, and am always interested in a project with creative potential or higher rewards.  I am eager to build more experience writing for the Web in teamwork with graphics and IT specialists.
