Children of Arable

In a genderless future, babies are made in babylabs. Families are banned. Romance is banned. Strong emotions are too dangerous to be allowed on fragile space stations. There is no he, she, only hey; no him, her, only heir. Then one person, Martin of Arable, finds out how to reverse the op so heir own body can make a baby. What fun! Others follow suit. But one person discovers heir body won’t do that: hey is what was once called “a man.” What will happen as the craze spreads through the ruling circles of the galactic civilization. Will the ones who can’t once more try to control the ones who can? It’s a thought experiment disguised as a space opera.
